from an impromptu tagaytay trip

i've wanted to go to sonya's garden since.. well i don't really remember how long i've wanted to go there pero matagal na talaga. more than 5 years na cause i remember discussing it with a friend way back in college. ewan ko ba. for some reason naaamaze ako sa thought ng pagkain ng bulaklak. :P

tagaytay is just an hour away from where i live. maybe even less than an hour kung mabilis magpatakbo ang driver. :P

but last weekend was my first time at sonya's. at wala pa sa plan na pumunta dun.

it all started saturday night. me and a bunch of high school buddies got together para icelebrate ang pagpasa ng physician's licensure exam ng isang friend namin. it's official: we already have a doctora in the group.:)

so we pulled up an all-nighter sa bahay nina "doctora". kwentuhan ang chismisan all night. it's been years since we last saw each other so super dami talagang napag-usapan. (well actually mostly lovelife lang at pagiisa-isang tanungin kung ano na ang nangyari sa mga batchmates namin.) hanggang sa sumikat na ang araw at napagtripan naming magbreakfast sa tagaytay. thinking na kakain lang talaga kami and maybe have some coffee, we went straight to tagaytay without sleep (at wala ding ligo).

we were at pancake house at around 9am. ang ingay namin dun. haha. sabagay, kahit san kami magkitakita maingay talaga. after having breakfast, we had coffee at starbucks. at nagchismisan at pictorial na din dun. after a looooot of 10-shots sessions and solo pics, and several hours of hanging out and refueling ourselves with coffee, energized na ulit ang lahat! so we decided to drop by sonya's garden. turns out that i'm not the only one who has been wanting to go there but hasn't yet.

so aun, after a thirty minute drive, andun na kami. inikot ng konti ang sonya's. pero mga super busog pa kami so we ended up just getting some cheese hopia from the panaderia. btw, the hopia was really good. :)

thing is, after more than 5 years of wanting to go to the place, i think i've hyped up sonya's garden in my mind. i was expecting it to be bigger. and medyo umuulan pa when we got there so it wasn't really as nice as i thought it to be. though of course, i wasn't really able to enjoy the full experience as we didn't eat there. plus, i really had this grand vision of the place. and i think it's meant to be enjoyed in the not-so-wet season. and most likely meant to be experienced by someone who's not sleepless-and-totally-exhausted-yet-wide-awake-thanks-to-caffeine. so for my verdict? well, i'll have to schedule another trip there before i give my final verdict of the place.

BUT if you're looking for  a change of scene and would enjoy a private garden kinda vibe, then sonya's garden is a great place to visit. and judging from the cheese hopia and the heavenly smell of the panaderia, food is definitely a treat. :)

aside from the bed and breakfast and the panaderia, they've also got a spa and a country store. sonya's garden also cater to weddings. for more info, visit their website here.
